Caretakers are spouses, partners, family members, friends, or neighbors who assist others with everyday tasks, including bathing, feeding, administering medication, grocery shopping, housework, or emotional support. The family caregivers may have their own children and thus must juggle multiple duties, including their own career. The role of a family caregiver is extremely demanding and stressful, which can have an impact on their health, personal relationships, and career.
According to a survey conducted in 2023 by AARP and S&P Global, the unpredictable nature of caregiving for an adult is among the biggest stressors that caregivers face.
67% of family caregivers have difficulty balancing their jobs with caregiving duties.
27% of working caregivers have shifted from full-time to part-time work or have reduced hours; 16% have turned down a promotion.
16% have stopped working entirely for a period of time—and 13% have changed employers—in order to meet caregiving responsibilities.
We believe SimpliTend mobile apps can help caregivers live a healthier lifestyle, hence improving their overall quality of life. SimpliTend offers two smartphone apps, one for seniors and one for caregivers. The two smartphone apps work together to keep elders safe and independent while providing caregivers with peace of mind by informing them when the senior requires their assistance.
Below are four common scenarios where family members can use SimpliTend to care for their loved ones:

The SimpliTend senior app can run in background mode, allowing the user to use their phone normally while sending notifications to the caregiver's phone and displaying the senior's location to the caregiver.
Care for aging parents: Acknowledging our parents' vulnerability is painful for us, and we wish to shield them from the hardships of old age for as long as possible. Most age-related health issues, such as arthritis or heart disease, do not inherently render an elderly person incapable. Many individuals in these settings can care for themselves, but they may require assistance with specific chores. SimpliTend smartphone apps allow seniors to maintain their independence while assuring worried family members that they are safe. In addition to the standard SimpliTend features that mentioned above, Some relevant features include
Senior and caregiver smartphone apps provide a preprogrammed "Chat" button on the home screen for easy communication. There is no need to search the contact list or type the caregiver's name.
Simplitend includes an SOS button on the senior home screen. This button is preprogrammed to dial 911 (no need to enter any digits), but it can also be configured to call a friend or neighbor. When a senior calls SOS, the caregiver will be notified.
Sharing caregiving responsibilities with a family member or friend: In many cases, family caregivers may need assistance from a family member or friend so they can attend to their personal obligations, such as work commitments, medical appointments, or caring for their own children. This is normally challenging since the family members and friends are unfamiliar with the seniors' routines, medication schedules, or dietary requirements. Typically, family caregivers have to explain their expectations and care plans with the temporary caregiver. Meanwhile, they are concerned about the senior's quality of care.
SimpliTend has recently released an update that includes a new feature called "Temporary caregiver." Please see our video on how to set up the temporary caregiver feature on our YouTube channel. This feature enables the primary caregiver to designate a temporary caregiver while they are on leave. Temporary caregivers can log in from their smartphones and view the same care plan as the primary caregiver. Additionally, all medication and activity notifications are forwarded to the temporary caregiver. This function eliminates the need for the primary caregiver to explain anything to the friends or family members who are assisting. When the primary caregiver returns, they may disable this feature and resume getting notifications normally.
Caring for an aging family member is a full-time job that may be both physically and mentally demanding. SimpliTend uses technology to assist caregivers balance their career, mental health, and relationships while caring for aging loved ones.
